Fans of FX's Pose are in for a treat. When the popular drama television series returns for its Season 2, it will feature a significant time jump.
The exciting news was revealed by show creator Ryan Murphy during the 2019 PaleyFest LA at the Dolby Theatre on March 23. He said Pose Season 2 will pick up two years after the events of the first installment, starting after Madonna's hit song "Vogue" was released.
"Vogue" was inspired by choreographers Luis Xtravaganza and Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza from the Harlem "House Ball" community. The song was generally well received by the public upon its released, which brought the ballroom culture into the mainstream. Just like in real life, the vogue setting in Pose Season 2 will also apparently spark a lot of new aspirations and dreams for the individuals within the ballroom.
"[Pose] Season 2 is very exciting," Ryan Murphy, 53, said during Pose panel at the 209 PaleyFest, as quoted by IndieWire. "It starts in 1990 - the day Madonna releases 'Vogue,' and along with our wonderful [returning] cast, we have wonderful additions. Sandra Bernhard (who plays Nurse Judy in the "Love Is the Message" episode) is a series regular," he added.
In addition to Sandra Bernhard, award-winning actress Patti Lupone (Three Sisters, The Robber Bridegroom, and Evita) will also be appearing as a guest star on Pose Season 2. She will reportedly have multiple scenes with Billy Porter and MJ Rodriguez, who portray Pray Tell and Blanca Rodriguez-Evangelista, respectively.
Other stars appearing on Pose Season 2 are Evan Peters as Stan Bowes, Kate Mara as Patty Bowes, James Van Der Beek as Matt Bromley, Dominique Jackson as Elektra Abundance, Indya Moore as Angel Evangelista, Ryan Jamaal Swain as Damon Richards-Evangelista, Charlayne Woodard as Helena St. Rogers, Hailie Sahar as Lulu Abundance, Angelica Ross as Candy Abundance, Angel Bismark Curiel as Martinez 'Lil Papi' Evangelista and Dyllón Burnside as Ricky Evangelista.
Viewers should also expect to Jeremy McClain as Cubby Evangelista, Jason A. Rodriguez as Lemar Evangelista, Samantha Grace Blumm as Amanda Bowes, Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza as himself, Sol Williams Pendavis as himself, Bianca Castro as Veronica, Kathryn Erbe as Dr. Gottfried, Alexia Garcia as Aphrodite, Johnny Sibilly as Costas, Christopher Meloni as Dick Ford and Tamara M. Williams as Summer.
As for the release date, there is no set date yet but speculations are rife that Pose Season 2 will premiere sometime in June on FX.
