CW shooked its fans when the network has cancelled several of their popular series. While these current movements have become bothersome to the whole iZombie fandom, it has been confirmed that the show will still return for a new season. But sadly, it will be the series' final stop.

In an interview with TV Line after the season finale of the fourth installment, the show is not supposed to end with its fifth season, Rob Thomas, the showrunner of iZombie, revealed. But it has been an honor to be given another season considering the recent movements that CW are making, he added.

As it appears, there are more plans for the show, especially to Liv's life and, well, to her significant relationships. But since the upcoming season will already be the final journey for everyone in the plot, the show will definitely end with major revelations and answers to all the questions that have been very apparent to the show's dynamics.

Also, there are visions that Liv's character will be quite different from what she was on the previous seasons. As every avid fan would recall, Liv has not been very happy with her past relationships. So, there is a huge possibility that season 5 will probably give Liv more opportunities to be happy this time.

The showrunner further confirmed that the next season will reveal the fate of Major and Liv. Moreover, it is certain that there will be a resolution. But whatever this may be, fans would just need to wait for the new installment to arrive on CW.

As for the cast of the upcoming season, little has been said about it. But the show's lead star, Rose McIver shared a photo last year with NBA legend, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. And it has been further revealed that the basketball player will join the cast of iZombie for season 5 as per The Hollywood Reporter.

Apparently, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will play the role of Zed. His character is one of the city's council members who did not leave before the wall. And based on the revelations, it is known that Zed is a zombie.

All in all, these are the most apparent reports that have been shared publicly about the show. Even so, it is believed that season 5 will consist of 13 episodes just like the previous ones, except for the second season. And as for the official return date, iZombie is set to premiere on May 2 of this year.
