Indian viewers have loved the incredible tandem of Rahat (Priyank Sharma), Ranbir (Siddharth Sharma), Divyanka (Harshita Gaur), and Padmini (Khushi Joshi) in Puncch Beat. As the show became a big hit in India, Puncch Beat 2 will be surely in the works. But, the show is now surrounded by controversy as creator Vikas Gupta wants his way out due to an alleged misunderstanding with Sharma.
Ekta Kapoor showed her conversation with Gupta on her Instagram story, telling him he has to do Puncch Beat 2. But, he refused. She then told Alt Balaji CEO Nachiket Pantvaidya, who came to the room, to stop everything and ask Vikas to do another season of the show.
Gupta remained unconvinced to do Puncch Beat 2, saying he even had a nervous breakdown while doing the first season. "I am not doing the second season of Puncch Beat," he said, per India Today. "I almost got a nervous breakdown doing that show."
Kapoor didn't buy Gupta's reason, so she told him about the people's demand to see Puncch Beat 2, asking him what they would do with the show. The creative director suddenly burst out and spoke in Indian. He said everyone became big stars, but no one had dates.
Gupta's statement didn't stop Kapoor, so she asked him once again to work on Puncch Beat 2, and she would get everyone dates. There were rumors the host didn't want to do the show because of his alleged misunderstanding with Sharma.
In an interview with Spotboye, Gupta revealed doing Puncch Beat was a "harrowing experience," and he never wanted to go through it again. Although he admitted he might change his mind in two to three months to do Puncch Beat 2, he wanted to stay away from the people who made "his and his crew's life miserable."
When asked if he was pertaining to Sharma, Gupta admitted it was a difficult experience working with him. The show's production had been stopped for a couple of times because of his knee surgery. They then had to move the shooting schedule, and things became more difficult as most scenes were set outdoor.
Gupta also talked about Sharma's anger issue and unprofessional behavior. He revealed the team had faced many problems because of him. He went to events but didn't come for shoots. Although he did well on Puncch Beat, he did cause them troubles.
Despite the issue, Gupta felt happy that Sharma managed to pull off his character and gave justice to the show. The only thing that he couldn't accept is his unprofessional behavior. So, it is still up in the air if he would do Puncch Beat 2.
