LinkedIn released a new study that listed the top 25 companies to work for this year and 15 technology firms made it to the list while unsurprisingly, Alibaba Group took the top spot.
Accordingly to CNBC, LinkedIn's data revealed that Alibaba employs 66,000 workers and continues to expand as the years pass. The Chinese online retail giant is currently among the world's 10 most valuable firms.
In 2018, Alibaba became the second Asian company to exceed the $500 market value mark, putting Jack Ma's billion-dollar firm in a position where it can compete with some of the world's biggest tech circles that include Amazon, Google, and Facebook.
Second in LinkedIn's list is Baidu, the Chinese internet behemoth that served as the country's answer to the United States' Google. Despite some controversies earlier this year with its online search results, Baidu continues to build up consumer confidence by investing in artificial intelligence (AI) and vehicle automation.
On the third spot is ByteDance, the internet tech firm that gave birth to the popular video-sharing app, TikTok. It has been working on machine-learning technology over the past years to better serve its target audiences. More importantly, the company has been linked to charitable works that focus on children and women empowerment.
Fourth in line is an international investment company, Fosun, while the fifth place was taken by Nio, a barely five-year-old carmaker that now employs over 8,000 workers across the world. Aside from China, the company also has employees in the U.S., Germany, and the United Kingdom.
According to LinkedIn, the study used a number of gauging factors to come up with the list, including optimistic employee growth for the past 12 months. The employment services company also based eligibility on a 500-employee mark that companies in the list should have recorded as of Feb. 1, 2018.
Over the past years, Alibaba has made a name for itself outside of its online retail business. It has also received multiple awards that recognize its work and activities in various sectors. On Tuesday the company announced that it received a leadership award for its intellectual property (IP) practices.
Vice President and Head of Global IP Enforcement at Alibaba Group, Matthew Bassiur, received the "Luxury Law Innovator IP Rights and Technology" Award at the Luxury Law Summit in London. As stated on the company's official newsroom, the award recognizes leaders who display extraordinary expertise in luxury law and IP protection.
Earlier this month, the Chinese retail behemoth said it will continue expanding its delivery arm by investing in one of China's leading logistics firms, STO Express. While the scheme will allow STO's majority stakeholder to maintain its control of the firm in general, Alibaba will be allowed to participate in decision-making tasks.
