Rick and Morty is coming soon. And as one of the most awaited shows in recent years, it seems that almost everyone can no longer contain it. But as any fan would recall, it's quite challenging to be a fan of the series, especially when a season wraps up. This is only because it would really take time for the new season to arrive.
On October 2017, the third season concluded. And the whole Rick and Morty fandom knows that it might take another 18 months or more before the fourth season returns based on what happened to the third installment. Not to mention that it is only in May of 2018 that the show is renewed. So, this means that preparations, writing tasks, and production would only start afterward.
Even so, the only consolation to the almost two years of waiting is that the show will return with 70 more episodes. Accordingly, it is quite safe to assume that Rick and Morty would have more than one season when it returns. Plus, the succeeding seasons might no longer take time before they air on television.
From the date of the renewal, it appears that the fans are already waiting for almost a year. And sadly, there are no confirmations yet as to when the new season will finally arrive. In fact, even official trailers or teasers are not yet shared publicly. Nevertheless, there is a huge chance that the upcoming season will finally air before 2019 ends.
According to Inverse, it has been hinted on March that production is still ongoing. Also, the upcoming episodes are feeling "pretty great", Justin Roilan, the series co-creator shared on Twitter. Because of this, many fans thought that the show will finally make a surprise comeback on April Fool's Day just like what they did with the third installment.
However, no new episode or season of Rick and Morty was seen on air, even trailers and teasers were non-existent. As a result, fans are expected to stick with the initial assumption that the fourth season might arrive in the later months of 2019.
By and large, little has been shared about the upcoming season. Even the number of episodes per season is not yet revealed. But since the third season is supposedly comprised of 14 episodes which later on revised to 10, there is speculation that the new season might finally showcase a 14-episode installment.
If that happens, there will be all-new five more seasons for Rick and Morty. But if not, the most plausible scenario would be that the show will have seven more seasons.
