Amazon Prime has scored a hit with its new comedy series titled Four More Shots Please. The show launched all ten episodes of the streaming platform last Jan. 25, but viewers seem to want more. Will Amazon renew the show for a second season?
There is still no confirmation from the streaming platform regarding Four More Shots Please season 2. But Telly Chakkar reported that production has already started casting new actors who may join the second season.
Padma Damodaran has been tapped to play an "interesting role" in Four More Shots Please season 2. However, the star has not come out with an official word regarding her participation in the series.
Four More Shots Please features four millennial Indian women. Their stories are relatable to the American audiences, however, as they navigate relationships, sex, career and family feuds.
According to Indian Express, the show also highlights the independent but vulnerable women of today. Four More Shots Please is also about female friendships.
The show has been described as a lot similar to Sex and the City on HBO but given its main stars and setting in Mumbai, Four More Shots Please has a more global appeal. Created by Rangita Pritish Nandy and written by Devika Bhagat and Ishita Moitra, the series features lead stars Sayani Gupta, Gurbani, Kirti Kulhari and Maanvi Gagroo.
Anjan (played by Kulhari) is a single mom with no romantic or sexual relationships for the last four years. Her issues are about getting back into the dating game. Damini (played by Gupta) is Anjan's closest friend who has a successful career but has secret dreams of taking risks. Despite her success, she's not happy with her current place at work.
Umang (played by Gurbani) is the fun, carefree and rebellious bisexual in the group. She's in the middle of an incredible, albeit risqué relationship. Siddhi (played by), on the other hand, is the virgin who has her share of bad relationships with men. She has a mother who's always in her business and who is pressuring for her to get married.
Viewers used to Indian cinema might find the kissing scenes or the cursing and drinking scenes on Four More Shots Please quite new and unexpected. However, these scenes lend authenticity to the show that also celebrates feminism in the most progressive way.
The first season of Four More Shots Please continues to be stream on Amazon Prime.
