Prince Harry is making a documentary on mental health with Oprah Winfrey. The show will be set for a 2020 release on Apple's new and improved streaming platform.

The Duke of Sussex announced this collaboration with a post on Instagram. Both Harry and Winfrey have been working together for several months to look for stories about the people surviving the darkest moments of their lives.

"Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive - sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better," Harry said in his statement.

There is no title to the documentary series so far as it's still in the pre-production stages. However, it deeply aligns with the advocacy of Harry, who once admitted that he had to seek help for his mental struggles following the untimely death of his mother, Princess Diana. He was only 12 when he lost her to a car accident in France.

It's unclear, however, if Prince Harry's wife, Meghan Markle, will also be actively working on the documentary. The Duchess is due to give birth to their first child in a few weeks and will likely be on a maternity break for a few months.

In an interview with CBS This Morning, Winfrey told her best friend Gayle King of how she and Harry came up with the documentary series idea. Apparently, during a conversation with the prince, Winfrey asked what he thought were the two most glaring issues in the world right now.

Prince Harry replied that it's climate change and mental health, as per Oprah MagazineWinfrey told him that she is planning a mental health series with Apple since it's also her cause and that's when he offered to help.

Since then, Winfrey has been flying in and out of London to meet with the prince. She also brought her production crew to discuss what this show would be like.

Meanwhile, Winfrey also spoke up to defend Markle from the press. She believes that the duchess was being treated unfairly in the media with all those stories about her horrible character when she knows Markle to be a warm, giving and funny person. Remarkably, Winfrey said that. Markle doesn't read the stories about her, so she is not affected by the negative press.
