After a long wait, Peaky Blinders Season 5 is about to hit the small screens this year. Fans are patiently waiting for the show's continuation, and see what will happen next to the Shelbys. As there are theories Thomas (Cillian Murphy) will have a major transformation, what does it mean for the controversial family?

In an interview with the show's creator Steven Knight, he revealed Thomas would undergo an "unexpected transformation" throughout Peaky Blinders Season 5. "[Series seven] will tell a different story, where Tommy Shelby ... will be redeemed, and he will become good," he said, per Bustle.

Thomas would be in a new journey from the person fans used to see in the first season to what he might become in 1939. Peaky Blinders Season 5 would be set in 1929 to 1930s. Here, everything would start in the 1929 Wall Street Crash that they would lose all their money.

Hence, the Shelbys have to find a way to make a living. This time, Thomas is already a politician. So, Peaky Blinders Season 5 would feature some political developments that would eventually lead to the Second World War.

Murphy's character as Thomas is now an iconic role since the show started in 2013. BBC Two has given the role of a "significant character arc" since then. He started to be a ruthless gang member to a newly-elected MP in the previous season.

As Thomas is said to undergo a major transformation in Peaky Blinders Season 5, Knight added, via Metro News, the show's characters were dictating their own paths. For now, the characters have their own "logic and momentum," and it makes him feel that they are just "writing themselves." So, Knight seems to tease Thomas' political career as a Labour MP for Birmingham South is about to take off in the new season.

From here, Thomas may have a "prolific career" in the world of politics beyond Peaky Blinders Season 5. Paul Anderson, who plays as Arthur Shelby, even said Thomas is now in the position of power, and he could only "get stronger in that position."

However, Anderson also hinted Thomas' newfound power as an MP would let him to "get away with" and "manipulate things more." With the intense turn of events, fans should see how Thomas would hold his new position.

As there are revelations Thomas would be good this time, he might seriously take his new job. BBC Two has yet to announce when Peaky Blinders Season 5 would be out, but it is expected to hit the small screens later this year.
