"The old Taylor can't come... because she is dead" - this is actually one of the most memorable lines that everyone obtained from Taylor Swift's last album, Reputation. And the reason behind is that this kind of tone was quite unusual for the fans, especially when it comes to Taylor's songs.

But then again, the release of Reputation in 2017 caught the attention of many as everyone saw the transition of Taylor's music. From the colorful and vibrant melodies all the way to the dark and "antsy" kind of tune, this apparently surprised the whole fandom.

Although Reputation has become a massive success since its release up to the conclusion of the tour, Taylor Swift revealed that the key tracks in this album possess a defensive and dark tone.

In an interview with Variety, the Look What You Made Me Do artist shared with Zane Lowe that she was putting up her "defense mechanism" when she started working on the said album. In fact, when Reputation was released, she held on to her no-interview policy. Hence, the album's mantra, "there will be no explanation, just reputation." She went on to further reveal that this has been the first time ever that she did it with an album.

But while Taylor Swift remained firm with her ultimate defense all throughout the dark Reputation era, she revealed that she is now ready to ditch this mechanism and leave it all behind. She also shared that she started to feel her life during the recent tour and that she credits the whole fandom for the "complete resurgence."

Right now, Taylor is ready to do the things that she used to do and feels more comfortable than ever. These actually have become very apparent when the artist started to give away hints and clues about her next album. And so much more when her newest single, ME!, was finally released on April 26.

The change in aesthetics is also worth noting in this complete resurgence that she is talking about. As it appears, Taylor further unveiled that the aesthetics of her music are basically the reflection of her emotions. And looking at the music video of her latest single, ME!, it seemingly looks like that a lot of things have already change for Taylor Swift.

As for her new and upcoming album, there is no specific release date yet that has been shared. But even so, she hinted that there will be more singles to be released before she finally drops the album.
