The Blacklist season 6 episode 20 doesn't delve right away into the big reveal from last week's episode. Instead, Red (played by James Spader) kept brushing off Liz (played by Megan Boone) when she wanted to talk more about how Red is truly a Russian spy who helped her mother in the past.
Then, there's also the matter of Red finding out that Liz gave him up to the authorities. She was the reason why he almost had to be executed in prison but it was a good thing Red received a pardon from the president.
Red becomes upfront with Liz in The Blacklist season 6 episode 20 by saying that everyone who has betrayed him has been eliminated in his life. However, he's quite conflicted with Liz's betrayal because he cannot kill the person he regarded as a daughter and he also cannot grant her forgiveness.
But Liz is more at peace with the choices she made regarding Red even it this meant betraying him. She also was no longer keen on finding out the truth about his identity compared to previous seasons.
This new attitude from Liz also helped changed how she handled things with her daughter and Red, according to TV Guide. Because she found out that he has always been looking out for her, she's had a change of heart about keeping her daughter away from Red.
Their personal issues, however, were set aside in The Blacklist season 6 episode 20 because of a case involving missing children, as per the episode synopsis. Their disappearances were somehow related to Anna McMahon (played by Jennifer Ferrin) and the search for the missing dossier.
One girl, Corrine, was nabbed at a golf arcade while another, Nora, went missing in a park several miles away. It was curious to Liz and her team because the girls looked like twins but they had different birthdays and different parents.
DNA tests showed, however, that the girls were identical twins conceived via IVF. In another scene in The Blacklist season 6 episode 20, Corrine and Nora came face to face and were shocked to see their mirror-image. A man named Guillermo Rizal took them.
Liz and her team visited the fertility clinic to investigate and arrest Miles Gordon who confirmed he was paid a lot of money to switch the embryos. He also said that there is a third child, Grace.
Further, they found out that the DNA of the triplets was altered by a Guillermo Rizal, who did this to more twins or triplets. Apparently, he was asked to plant a secret code relating to a plot against the U.S. It was what McMahon has been looking for!
Red used his contacts to find this man who could rewrite a person's DNA in The Blacklist season 6 episode 20. Rizal was eventually nabbed and placed in FBI custody by the end of the episode.
Next week, Red faces off with McMahon to get to the bottom of this dossier. It will be the second to the last episode of The Blacklist season 6.
