Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7 will air a shocking twist in the development of the abortion storyline, which was introduced in the earlier episode. Everything will come to a head in the upcoming installment, as the identity of the backstreet abortionist will finally be unveiled, and it's someone viewers may have not likely expected.

A woman, who was turned away by Dr. Turner (played by Stephen McGann) because he would not terminate her pregnancy, sought an illegal abortion with a backstreet abortionist in Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7. She ended up putting her life at risk when something had gone wrong with the procedure.

It was Nurse Valerie (played by Jennifer Kirby) who found out about the identity of the backstreet abortionist after she got a call from her Aunt Flo (played by Nicky Goldie). The latter instructed her niece to head to the pub and bring her nurse's bag and Val, thinking that it might be a bad situation that will require more help, brought along Nurse Trixie (played by Helen George).

Much to their surprise, however, they saw a woman lying on a table at the back of the pub, as Valerie's grandmother tried to perform an abortion. Elsie (played by Ann Dryer) admitted that she has been doing the illegal and dangerous procedure all along. The revelation sent a lot of viewers of Call the Midwife season 8 in the U.K. in shock, as per Express. Viewers in the U.S., however, will be able to watch this episode play out on Sunday, May 12, at 8:00 p.m. on PBS.

Val's grandma said she has never seen this situation with her procedures before. It was a good thing then that Trixie was there to make sure that the woman doesn't die from the botched abortion. They called for an ambulance despite Aunt Flo's protest.

As Trixie returns with the patient to the hospital, Val initiates a talk with her grandmother In Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7. She told her she could lose her job because of what Elsie did and she couldn't believe that her granny was profiting from this illegal deed. At which point, Elsie burned the money she received from the women she has been helping terminate the pregnancy, and now Val is conflicted about this whole thing.

Call the Midwife season 8 episode 7 will also feature Sister Frances' chance to attend to her first solo birth with Mother Mildred. Trixie will also be quite busy in this episode as she assists a patient with gonorrhea, as per the episode synopsis

This will be the penultimate episode of Call the Midwife season 8. The show, however, has been renewed for two more seasons.
