Undercover is Netflix's latest crime drama series. The show launched on the streaming platform on Friday, May 3, with 10 episodes and it is reportedly in the middle of filming the second season.

According to ExpressUndercover season 2 has been filming in Belgium, its origin country, since April. However, Netflix has not yet confirmed if the show's second season will also be on back on the platform, given that it has just been released.

But Undercover season 1 aired first in European countries like Austria, France, Germany and Switzerland after the series debuted in Belgium in February. It is likely that Netflix will also follow the same format when season 2 begins. That is, if Netflix acquires Undercover season 2 then it will likely release the follow-up a few months after its European premiere.

Undercover takes place in Belgium and may be comparable to Netflix's hit series Narcos. The show also has a narrator who explains the nitty gritty of the underworld and its tension with the authorities.

The story is a classic tale of the friction between cops and organized crime syndicates. Set against the backdrop of Belgium, however, Underworld still stands out as prestige TV.

"European drama has attracted everyone's attention," Netflix's Pieter Van Huyck said in press release. "Therefore we are very pleased that Undercover is the first Netflix Original from our country, and that Netflix invests in high-end foreign language drama."

Underworld stars Frank Lammers as Ferry Bouman. His character is described as the "largest ecstasy producer in the world," and he lives in a well-protected villa with hundreds of guards and staff at his beck and call.

Anna Drijver is Kim De Rooji, the undercover cop who is working for Ferry. Tom Waes plays Bob Lemmens who is also an undercover cop pretending to be Kim's husband. Together, they get deep into this operation to build a case against the big boss.

The show also stars Elise Schaap, Raymond Thirty, Kevin Janssens, Lieke van den Broek, Tim Haars and Huub Smit. It's an ensemble cast most familiar to European viewers. However, Netflix subscribers in the U.S. have also been curious about what Undercover has to offer.

According to DeciderUndercover is still worth a binge on Netflix. Some viewers, however, might find that the general premise of the story is nothing extraordinary.

Undercover may be interesting to those who love Narcos, and other organized crime drama shows like Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. The show will remain streaming on Netflix.
