Read At Your Own Risk: This article contains major spoilers for The Umbrella Academy.
Gerard Way's hit series, The Umbrella Academy, has already received its green light from Netflix last month for a new season. This is not entirely surprising at all considering that the show was welcomed warmly by its fans.
When the show first premiered on the platform way back in February, it immediately obtained a good reception from the audience. And within one week, the fanbase of the show grew massively. In fact, the fans were already eager to learn more about the next installment even before the month has ended.
Luckily for the fans, the succeeding plots of The Umbrella Academy are already established since the series is an adaptation to Gerard Way's original comic series of the same title. And long before its actual premiere, there are already three volumes prepared in the comic books.
Quite obviously, the second season of the show is likely to follow the major plots of the second volume of the comic books, The Umbrella Academy: Dallas. And if you've read the comics already, then you might already know what will happen next to the Hargreeves siblings.
Even so, it is worth remembering that the production is not afraid to twist and play their materials. As it happens, there are major plots and arcs from the first season that are actually adapted directly from the second volume of the comics.
So, even if most of the fans have already read the comic books, it is very likely that the television series will deviate from them in some ways.
As per Inverse, the production has already started its processes for the next installment. And with that in mind, it is quite safe to say that The Umbrella Academy Season 2 will possibly arrive in the early months of 2020.
In terms of the plot, the pilot season apparently concluded with a huge cliffhanger. With the moon's deterioration due to Vanya's dark powers, it left Five with nothing but to decide that they should travel back in time to ultimately avoid the predicted apocalypse.
Upon disappearing from the current timeline, this is when the pilot season left the audience. So, right now, there are no clear indications as to where and when the Hargreeves siblings traveled in time.
But looking at the plots of the Dallas volume of the comic books, it seemingly appears that Five took his siblings way back during the time of John F. Kennedy before his assassination.
