Read At Your Own Risk: This article contains major spoilers for Grey's Anatomy.
Grey's Anatomy Season 15 just wrapped up a few days ago. And while the finale showed whole new shocking plot twists and cliffhangers, longtime fans of the show noticed that these events are recreations of the past plots.
When Meredith was still an intern way back in Season 2, she, along with her co-interns, admitted to cutting Denny's LVAD wire. This disastrous yet iconic twist resulted in them to be fired by Bailey from being interns.
But we all know how it all ended in the long run since Meredith is now one of the most celebrated surgeons at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. However, this is no longer the case when the latest season ended since the same twist happened again to Meredith, but this time, she is with Alex and Webber.
DeLuca who happens to be Meredith's love interest took the fall for her when she committed fraud in order to save a young immigrant girl's life. But knowing Meredith, of course, she would not let this happen. So, she went on to confess her crimes to which Alex and Webber backed her up.
The confession at the last few moments of Season 15 resulted, once again, in Bailey's shocking decision to fire the hospital's three greatest doctors.
This familiar iconic plot twist has become very poetic since this already happened when way back in earlier seasons of the show. But obviously, Meredith would do it again if she would in order to save lives.
Although some fans pointed out that there are other several ways to resolve the concern without indulging into illegal actions, the showrunner of Grey's Anatomy, Kriste Vernoff, explained to The Hollywood Reporter that this should happen.
It is a must for Meredith to finally face the consequences because, in the whole course of Grey's Anatomy, Meredith has been breaking a lot of rules in order to do her job properly. And this time, it is just fitting for her to finally get caught up with the consequences.
In addition, Vernoff also pointed out that it's already time to face another shocking twist considering that the show is now running nearly for 350 episodes.
She also talked about the upcoming installment and hinted that Meredith will face the consequences of her actions for quite a long time. So, it is very likely that she'll be behind bars for most of the episodes of Grey's Anatomy Season 16 which will arrive in September of this year.
