To say that Grand Theft Auto V gave us the most enjoyable gaming experience ever is an understatement. Five years later, a lot of people still enjoy this game. And while we can all agree to that, it seems as if everybody also collectively agreed that it's time for a GTA 6.

After some leaks here and there, GTA 6 is slowly etching  its way into reality, and former and current employees have somewhat hinted of an impending release. But where is the truth in all of these?

Some of the "leaks" have been mistakes, such as one former employee listing a direct involvement in the making of a GTA 6. Another one managed to reveal a map information, which is arguably the most informative leak to date. Now that E3 2019 is closing in, the leaks have been more frequent than ever, with some claiming that Rockstar is supposed to announce the game at the event.

Rockstar has maintained its excellent record of keeping GTA Online as exciting as it could ever be. The developer's Red Dead Redemption 2, released October last year, was also a huge success, but now fans are hyped with anticipation what comes next.

Despite released five years to previous to Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA 5 managed to outsell and still is outselling RDR2. GTA 5 is also making a huge income for Rockstar via in-game purchases. In fact, earlier this year, GTA 5 became the fourth best-selling game on console, whereas RDR2 was eighth.

The rankings are somewhat surprising, considering GTA 5 has been out for quite a while now. This is all the evidence needed to show that GTA 6 is about to materialize.

Grand Theft Auto titles are known to have a gap of around four or five years, but for that pattern to be consistent, GTA 6 should have been released in 2018. But we have to consider that Red Dead 2 was released in October 2018, which could be the reason why we're not seeing a GTA 6 announcement yet.

If we are to rely on leaks, it seems that GTA 6 won't be released before the next-gen consoles arrive. So it could be that we'd have to wait for November 2020 at the earliest.

There's another GTA 6 rumor going around saying that a new GTA could be exclusive to the PS5. This is another announcement gaming fans held high hopes for, but Sony quickly shut it down, saying "We do not know where the rumor is coming from, but there is no such plan."

Rockstar, meanwhile, has not commented on any of these leaks. For now, we'll have to wait and see when GTA 6 materializes.
