With Rockstar Games remaining tight-lipped about the hotly anticipated latest entry to the famous "Grand Theft Auto" franchise, fans have nothing but their own speculations and the rumor mill to feed their "GTA" appetite. What's in store for "GTA 6"?

Here's what the rumor mill says about the upcoming title.

Multiple protagonists

"GTA 5," one of the best entries in the franchise and, perhaps, one of the best games to date allowed players to choose one of three protagonists to play as. Online GTA news outlet GTABoom (via Hiptoro) says Rockstar is going to take the same route and introduce two protagonists: one male and one female playable character.

For GTA 6, however, players will get the chance to play not just one, but both protagonists. It is believed that the two will be polar opposites, where one is against the law, just like other GTA protagonists go; while the other is a cop who enforces the law.

Moreover, players will be able to control the two characters depending on where they are in the storyline. Rockstar hasn't said anything about this yet, and so it would be best to just take it lightly and with the customary grain of salt. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how this will turn out if the rumor is true.

Voice actors

According to the same news outlet, GTA 6's main protagonists will be voiced by high-profile celebrities Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. This doesn't seem likely as Rockstar doesn't usually work with popular celebrities. Moreover, this speculation is based on the aforementioned speculation about GTA 6 having male and female protagonists.

If the earlier rumor is true, then the second rumor will have some sort of basis on which to stand on. But with Rockstar being the type of studio to not work with high-profile Hollywood personalities, fans shouldn't hope to hear Ryan or Eva voicing the game's heroes anytime soon.

Release date

Speaking of "anytime soon," GTA 6 doesn't have an official release date yet. It's worth repeating that Rockstar hasn't confirmed or denied anything about rumored details. A major clue, however, confirms that the studio is working on the game.

Earlier reports revealed Rockstar is looking for a Senior Environment artist who will work on "next-generation worlds for some exciting upcoming projects." The next-gen world won't be for "Red Dead Redemption 2" as it was released just a few months ago. It's only logical that it would be for a big-ticket title like GTA 6.

The big question now is "when will GTA 6 be released?" We'll just have to wait to find out.
