There will be a new cast member joining Outlander Season 5 that animal-lover fans will surely love. Starz recently revealed the coming of Claire's (Caitriona Balfe) cat, Adso, to give love not just to its humans but to viewers as well.

In the show's official Twitter page, it first teased the announcement of a new cast. "We have a very im-purr-tent casting announcement... who could it be?!" it tweeted.

Later, another post showed Jamie (Sam Heughan) with a cat on his shoulders. "Clan, meet our wee ADSO!" the Twitter page introduced.

In the book, Adso is the cat Jamie saw on the road after a gathering. Jamie knew the feline would be useful for Claire to keep mice away from her medical practice, so he brought it home.

Adso will be a loyal part of the Fraser's Ridge family in Outlander Season 5. Sam named the kitten after his own mother's cat. However, CarterMatt reported Adso might be easily "scrubbed out" after its introduction.

A lot of things are expected to happen in Outlander Season 5, so Adso may not be often seen on screen. The show only has 12 episodes this season, one episode shorter compare to the usual 13 installments the previous seasons have.

So, Starz may use the limited time it has to focus on Claire, Jamie, and other important characters' storyline. But amidst the chaos, Adso may be the one that will inject some normalcy to the lives of the Fraser family.

Outlander Season 5 will have a lot of drama due to the looming Revolutionary War. But as Jamie and Fraser are only ordinary people trapped in extraordinary circumstances, Adso may be the one to remind them they also have normal lives.

Adso's arrival will give a "greater sense" of family and community to the show. And as its character is part of Diana Gabaldon's book series, fans will surely be pleased. However, Adso may have to compete with Eddie Balfe, Caitriona's own cat, to become the most famous cat in the fandom.

Adso is not the only animal that first joined the series. In the previous season, Rolo, Ian Murray's (John Bell) dog was introduced and had been part of the show. Fans can expect to see Adso in the first few episodes of Outlander Season 5.

Aside from the cat, there may be new cast members coming to the show. Starz has yet to announce when Outlander Season 5 will hit the small screens, but it is expected for release in 2020. The show is also set to be out on Amazon Prime.
