When the scandalous reports about James Gunn's tweets circulated the media last year, Disney has decided to fire the Guardians of The Galaxy director. While he explained that they have all the right to do that considering the actions that he did way back in time, it came as a surprise to everyone.

As it happened, his Marvel family got saddened by the news about their director. But of course, James Gunn was the one who felt so much more disappointed about himself. He further explained that he is no longer the person that he used to be. And this has become very apparent as cast members of Guardians of The Galaxy empathized with him during his darkest moments.

But no long after the official announcement has been made, he was immediately rehired to continue working on the upcoming film. He revealed that it has become a redeeming moment for him when he learned about his return. He also went on to unveil what hit him so hard after the termination.

According to James Gunn, he felt even more disappointed that he can no longer finish Rocket Raccoon's arc in the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, he contended during his interview with Deadline, that this has become the saddest moment for him. He went on to explain that Rocket Raccoon's character is very much close to his heart which made him feel more attached to the character.

But since he is now back to being the director of Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3, he felt really happy that he can now continue the imminent fate of Rocket Raccoon. And based on his expressions, it seemingly appears that Rocket Raccoon will finally be transformed from being a criminal into a full-bloom superhero.

While Groot is actually considered to be the fan-favorite character of the film series, James Gunn revealed that Groot is like his own pet dog. Accordingly, he sees himself as Rocket Raccoon in all aspects.

He also mentioned as of the time being, he is planning to finish this arc in the upcoming installment of the Guardians of The Galaxy series. And with these facts at hand, the fandom is now speculating that it may be possible that Rocket Raccoon will die.

Although no word has been given yet about the details of the film, it is still plausible. Others, however, perceive James Gunn's words as a positive thing to the point that he will definitely change Rocket Raccoon's personality in the upcoming film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is set to premiere in 2020.
