The Voice will never be the same without Adam Levine as the contest which premiered way back 2011 has been a constant hit for NBC. The Maroon 5 frontman has been there from Season 1 until the end of Season 16 just earlier this week. But even though Season 17 is already polished to go, Levine abruptly decided to move out from the American singing competition television series, with loyal viewers and even fellow judges almost taken aback and worried who will be competent enough to replace him.
Then a door opens for a possibility of Christina Aguilera coming back to claim her old seat again, as she has been with CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton as the original panel. However, it was not as constant as Adam Levine and Blake Shelton, as the Lady Marmalade songstress appeared on seasons 2, 3, 5, 8, 10 only until she finally left for good. Unfortunately, a reliable source from Aguilera already denied the rumors of her The Voice comeback as she has been busy on her residency in Vegas and has been on tours lately.
In addition to her outside performances, Christina Aguilera wanted to focus more on her own career, as she "really missed performing on a regular basis." And even though Adam Levine has also left for good The Voice, coming back on the show did not even reach her mind and hasn't even changed her mind of current goals. Christina Aguilera's Vegas residency entitled Christina Aguilera: The Xperience opens at the Zappo's Theater in Planet Hollywood on May 31.
In the meantime, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton were shocked at the sudden decision of Adam Levine to leave The Voice for good. The Stronger hitmaker expressed her feelings on social media and said that "it will be weird showing up 4 work & he's not there" as Clarkson feels highly for Levine as he started off the show and has made it a big hit ever since. Even Blake Shelton, the show's veteran and Adam Levine's joke frenemy can't still believe the news and said "Having a hard time wrapping my head around @adamlevine not being at @NBCTheVoice anymore." He hilariously added, "After 16 seasons that changed both of our lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn't set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot."
The Girls Like You singer's exit from The Voice came in the after an apparently disastrous performance at the NBC upfronts in New York City last May 13. Adam Levine already looked noticeably stiff and stone-faced as he performs with his fellow judges, which reportedly caused tension between him and NBC entertainment co-chairman Paul Telegdy. He complained during the taping about The Voice's new format, which left him with no singers in the semi-finals.
Despite his swift departure, the singing competition quickly announced a new line-up of judges for season 17, which will premiere in September. John Legend will return for his second season, moving over to the first coach chair, originally filled by Adam, and Gwen Stefani will rejoin the series in his place. Blake Shelton, the only other person to have appeared on the program continuously since its 2011 debut, now becomes its longest-running judge.
