Ashley Morales (played by Christina Ochoa) might just be back in A Million Little Things season 2. Creator DJ Nash revealed that he's been discussing the details of the character's return with the actress.
In a post on Twitter, Nash confirmed that he and Ochoa have talked about reprising Ashley in A Million Little Things season 2. However, nothing has been set so far, but the creator is hopeful that Ochoa would sign back on.
The character appeared in at least 11 episodes of A Million Little Things season 1. She was the assistant of Jon (played by Ron Livingston), who was just in the next room when her boss took his own life. Ashley also knew some of Jon's secrets that even his wife, Delilah (played by Stéphanie Szostak), doesn't know.
But Ashely said her goodbyes and flew to Spain in a February episode of A Million Little Things season 1. Nash, however, revealed to TV Line that Ochoa has not yet completely left the series.
"We sent [Ashley] away," the creator said. "But maybe she comes back knowing a lot of Spanish." Ochoa also echoed Nash's pronouncements and revealed that Ashley is "not completely out of the picture."
Nash also confirmed that Barbara Morgan (played by Drea de Matteo) would return to A Million Little Things season 2 with her husband. Viewers will recall that she was a mystery for a while in the first season because no one from Jon's close circle of friends knew about her, except Ashley.
They learned that Barbara was the wife of Jon's best friend, Dave, who died during 9/11 and even before Jon met and fell in love with Delilah. Jon took it upon himself to take care of Barbara, as he had named her in his insurance because she was pregnant when Dave unexpectedly passed.
But Barbara has a new husband now, whom she fell in love so soon after the tragedy. It's still unclear what having Barbara back in A Million Little Things season 2 could mean for the rest of the characters since the people she has ties with are gone.
ABC has not yet announced the premiere date for A Million Little Things season 2. However, it will be retained in the Thursday, 9:00 p.m. slot and will most likely begin its run in the third or fourth week of September.
