Rafael Solano (played by Justin Baldoni) is back in the dating scene on Jane the Virgin season 5. The episode airing on Wednesday, June 12, will find the character exploring his new options after his big breakup with Jane (played by Gina Rodriquez).
Learning that her great big love is completely over her, Jane invites Petra (played by Yael Grobglas) for a single ladies' night, as per the episode synopsis on Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 12. Petra is also nursing a broken heart after JR (played by Rosario Dawson) decided to move to Houston and end their relationship.
It's been such a whirlwind time for Jane who had vowed to fight for her relationship with Rafael. After choosing him over Michael (played by Brett Dier), Jane came back to try and reconcile with the father of her child.
However, Rafael told her in Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 8 that he's completely burned and she has lost his trust, as per Entertainment Weekly. But even as he refused her love, Jane vowed to win him over again. Since then, however, things got more complicated in their relationship.
In Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 10, the co-parents learned that Mateo has ADHD after some tests and diagnosis. This has caused another tension in the way they related to each other since they have different ideas on how to help Mateo overcome this condition.
On top of that, Jane has too much stuff to deal with her work responsibilities piling up and dividing her focus. She's writing a TV show for her father, she's also working on her new book, and she has her waitressing job at Marbella.
Jane the Virgin season 5 is nearly halfway done with its final series. The show will air its back-to-back series finale episodes on Wednesday, July 31, at 8:00 a.m. to 10 p.m.
But with some two months left to air before its wrap, will things still turn around for this show's protagonist? Will Michael still be in the upcoming episodes?
Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder-Urman said that Jane had made up her mind when it came to love. So, any possibility of Michael becoming her love interest again is done and gone, but Dier will still be back in another episode.
"Jane really realizes that these five years and the changes that have happened have changed her, and Rafael is who she wants to be with," the producer said, as per TV Guide. "You'll certainly see - this is not Brett's last episode. But Jane knows who she wants to be with."
