ABC is giving The Conners season 2 a vote of confidence ahead of its return. The network has expanded the show's episode count from half-season with 13 episodes to nearly a full season with 19 episodes.

According to TV Line, the increase in the episode count was made possible because the main cast -- John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, and Laurie Metcalf -- had more room in their schedule to work on The Connersseason 2. Gilbert also hinted that the more conflicts would happen in the second season to spice up the series.

"If there's no conflict, it's not funny," the actress said in an interview with Los Angeles Times."When tragedy happens, we try and find a way to view the humor in it. Something the [show's] writers have taught me is that anything can be funny."

The Conners is an off-shoot of the unexpected cancellation of Roseanne in 2018. ABC decided to cut its principal actress, Roseanne Barr, from the series after she posted offensive, racist and controversial comments on her Twitter account.

The network then made a deal with the rest of the adult stars of Roseanne to come back and do The Conners. Despite worries that the spinoff wouldn't be a success without Barr, the show's debut season in the fall of 2018 earned good ratings.

Meanwhile, long-time fans of Roseanne wonder if The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki will return full time to The Conners season 2 to reprise his character, David. The actor guest appeared in the earlier seasons of the revival series, but he couldn't commit a long time since he was still doing his long-running show. Now that Big Bang has ended, will he have time to become a series regular on The Conners season 2?

Unfortunately, Galecki said in an interview with Hollywood Life that he would like to take a break from doing a regular show. However, he's not discounting another guest appearance on The Conners season 2, which he considers his second home. He has also remained good friends with the show's cast, especially Gilbert, his ex-wife in the show.

The Conners season 2 also stars Lecy Goranson, Micheal Fishman, Emma Kenney, Ames McNamara, Jayden Dery, and Maya Lynne Robinson. In the first season, the show welcomed guest stars like Justin Long, Juliette Lewis, Jay R. Ferguson, Peter Gallagher, and Matthew Broderick.

As per ABCThe Conners season 2 will take the Tuesday 8:00 p.m. schedule when it returns this fall. The network, however, has not yet announced the show's return date.
