Annabelle Comes Home is the third film in this franchise of The Conjuringuniverse. In anticipation of its June 26 theater debut, Warner Bros released a second trailer that revealed a new evil spirit to terrorize the Warrens.

The new trailer of Annabelle Comes Home shows the presence of a ghoul known as The Ferryman. It is likely that this isn't the only creature that the evil doll has awakened upon her return to the Warrens' artifacts room.

A creepy voice can be heard by the time the trailer ends, stating that Annabelle seemed to be in search of a new soul. It's fair to assume that someone will die in Annabelle Comes Home but will it be one of the Warren kids?

Annabelle Comes Home is the first directorial job of screenwriter Gary Dauberman. This new story has a Night at the Museum vibe to it, but it is far creepier and more appealing to fans of the horror and suspense genre.

"Annabelle basically activates all the other haunted artifacts in that room," franchise creator James Wan explained the basic premise of Annabelle Comes Home in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "They target the Warrens' 10-year-old daughter, Judy (played by McKenna Grace)."

The movie returns to the home of Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, respectively), who have locked away Annabelle after it was proven that she's an evil doll. Thinking that this raggedy item would no longer cause any trouble, the Warrens were not prepared for what was to come.

The girls become curious about Annabelle that they go to where they shouldn't be -- the artifacts room. Thus, without intending to, the girls free Annabelle who then possesses all the other creatures around her.

Meanwhile, the appearance of The Ferryman may suggest that more stories could expand in The Conjuring universe that, for the moment, comprises Annabelle, The Nun and the standalone movies The Curse of La Llorana and The Crooked Man. The franchise also has short films like The Nurse, Innocent Souls, and The Confession.

The Annabelle series, which began in 2014 as a spinoff, introduced the Warren family to a horror-loving audience. The success of the film brought on a prequel, Annabelle: Creation, that ran in theaters in 2017.

Annabelle Comes Home, which started production in the fall of 2018, is expected to be released in the U.S. on June 26, up from its original July schedule, as per Business Wire.
