After concluding their successful Your Area European tour, BLACKPINK is back in Korea for a brief break before they continue taking on Asia and Australia with fresh concert schedules. On a rare television guesting, the YG artists did not disappoint when they joined the winning Stage K contestants for a performance of their megahit Kill this Love.
Last week, Stage K released a promo that BLACKPINK will be appearing as guests on the talent show to serve as judges for the dance covers of their hit songs. Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rose were seen getting excited about the performance of Team Japan, Poland, France and Belgium who each gave their all on stage, reported Soompi.
Each BLACKPINK member had their criteria for voting a winner. For Rose, it was passion. Jennie was looking for energy. Jisoo wanted to see how well the groups gelled together while Lisa was more focused on choreography.
It was Team Brazil who first took the stage with their danced cover of BLACKPINK's Whistle which impressed Rose. Jisoo was similarly impressed with the team from France, who even improvised on the choreography of their rendition of As If It's Your Last. The choreography was so on point that Jisoo admitted that she wanted to try it herself.
The third performance came from Team Japan, who covered BLACKPINK's Boombayah. The team served up the energy that Jennie was looking for and the singer expressed her admiration for their powerful dancing and confidence.
The final group from Poland took on BLACKPINK's Playing with Fire, which drew a positive response because of their perfect balance of femininity and strength. However, only two teams advanced to the second round, which was a performance of DDU-DU DDU-DU. Team Japan and Belgium equally proved their strength with the performance, but it was Team Belgium that took the win.
As a reward, Team Belgium got to perform on stage with BLACKPINK themselves, and both groups joined forces to perform Kill This Love which the crowd ate up with oud cheers and chanting. Even from the beginning of the show, fans were already anticipating the final performance because Stage K host Jun Hyun Moo admitted that it was difficult to get a word in to interview the members because of the noise from the crowd, a report said.
Another scene stealer for the night was a special stage wherein kids nailed a cover of BLACKPINK's DDU-DU DDU-DU remix version. The BLACKPINK members were completely blown away by their mini-me versions nailing each dance step.
