Blue Bloods Season 10 will be in the works as Tom Selleck already signed a one-year deal with CBS. The show may soon be in production after the season renewal announcement. So, when will the camera starts rolling in New York City?

It might still take a little while before they see the Reagan family back to the dinner table. According to CarterMatt, the previous season started its production in July 2018 and aired in September. Would the same happen this year?

CBS has not official production dates for Blue Bloods Season 10 yet. So, there are speculations it may follow last year's timeline.

The show's production usually starts early before it hits the small screens because it takes more than a week to film a single episode. CBS makes sure it already has a stock of new episodes on hand before the show goes on. If not, it will end up falling behind, and there may be longer hiatus when the fall comes to catch up.

If Blue Bloods Season 10 will follow CBS's old schedule, it will start filming in mid-July until near the holiday season. The production will then resume in the New Year, and it will wrap up in the spring.

Meanwhile, Selleck already signed a one-year deal with CBS to return to Blue Bloods Season 10. As some question why the 74-year-old veteran actor would only reprise his role as Frank Reagan for one season, he said it was what that the network offered him.

Selleck told Deadline CBS didn't offer him a two-year deal as the show would only be renewed for one season. However, he suggested the network should make "long-term decisions."

"They didn't offer me a two-year deal, and I don't know why," Selleck explained. "I signed up for a year because that's what they were offering."

Although he would only return for one season, Selleck assured fans he wouldn't leave the show. The Magnum P.I. star feels the sense of duty of reprising his role, and the network could not easily replace his character with any random detective, especially at the dinner table.

He continued to say the long-running television series' cast is related. So as long as his fellow actors return, he will surely come back.

But for him to return to Blue Bloods Season 10, Selleck wanted CBS to announce the show's renewal separately, instead of including it in a batch of other renewals. The new season is expected to be out later this year.
