After two years, Evie (Sofia Carson), Mal (Dove Cameron), Jay (Booboo Stewart), and Carlos (Cameron Boyce) will return to the small screens for Descendants 3. Disney unveiled the very first teaser for the musical fantasy television film with a brand new music video, along with the much-awaited announcement of its release.
In the clip, Evie, Mal, Jay, and Carlos display their signature moves as they sing their hearts out with the new music "Good to be Bad." As the descendants of known evil Disney villains like Maleficent, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil, among others, the group will prove that there is more to their ancestry than being antagonists.
Evie, Mal, Jay, Carlos, and the rest of the group will make their way to The Isle of the Lost in Descendants 3 to recruit more people for Auradon Prep. Here, fans can expect to hear more music and see them sing and dance along the way.
Talking about the musical television film, Stewart told Comic Book fans can expect bigger things to happen. "The dance sequences are beautiful, they're huge, and they're grand," he teased.
He is even proud to share they manage to outdo their selves every time they do the show. However, Stewart admitted Descendants 3 is the hardest film he has done for the franchise when it comes to dancing.
But aside from his moves, Stewart revealed fans are about to see his character's vulnerable side. Jay has been putting a front like he is the toughest guy in the group. However, he will let his guard down that will reveal the other side of him.
Discussing their new song for Descendants 3, Stewart added, via E! News, "Good to be Bad" will put them right in the place where they need to be. It will also help bring all the fans back in.
Director Kenny Ortega, on the other hand, said: "freedom is coming." "We wanted a song that said we've grown, we've changed, and that we're bringing a new day now to the Isle," he revealed.
Additionally, Choreographer Jamal Sims described the music video to be a mix of the early '90s and 2019 dance moves. Carson even revealed they got their own personalized choreography for their solo acts.
Carson continued to say they never had a chance to have solo moves in any of their previous soundtracks. She is also proud of their new song and described it as incredible, spectacular, unique, and brilliant. Descendants 3 will be out on Friday, August 2, on Disney Channel and DisneyNOW.
