Kelsea Ballerini is set to grace the stage of Songland Episode 3 to find a new song that can be her next big hit. Now, it is up for the new batch of hopeful songwriters to pitch their original piece to the 25-year-old star that will catch her attention.
"Undiscovered songwriters pitch original material to Kelsea Ballerini, who's looking for her next hit, and a panel of top music producers, who work to creatively adapt the songs to the star," Songland Episode 3 official synopsis read. "Kelsea Ballerini chooses one song to record and release."
Adam Levine pitched the idea of having a television competition show that would be about the songwriters. As some fear that it might be boring seeing an aspirant trying to compose new music, NBC managed to make it very interesting.
Songland has 11 episodes, and each episode features a known hitmaker as its guest start. In Episode 1, fans saw John Legend. Will.I.Am graced Episode 2 while Ballerini is set to appear in Episode 3. Jonas Brothers, Leona Lewis, and Meghan Trainor will also make an appearance in the future episodes, per the Washington Post.
In the premiere episode, five songwriters showed their talents by singing their original pieces. Aside from the stars, there are also famed composers and producers to help the contenders hone their abilities. There are Shane McAnally, who has worked with Kelly Clarkson and Kacey Musgraves, OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder, who also produced songs for Ed Sheeran, Adele, and Paul McCartney, and Ester Dean, who writes songs for Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and Nicki Minaj.
The trio plays as the judge of the hopeful songwriters as they raise different song issues like being a cliché, too melodic, or have a flawed concept. The celebrity guests, on the other hand, will pick their three favorites and each songwriter will team up with one panelist to fix the song, from rewriting to changing its beats.
Before Songland Episode 3 takes place, according to The Source, four songwriters tried to win Will.I.Am's taste of music. These hopefuls were from different paths of life that also have distinct styles in songwriting.
Songland Episode 3 will be out on Tuesday, June 11, on NBC. Fans have to wait and see who Ballerini will choose to pen her possible next big hit.
