Luther Season 5 now hits America, and fans have a lot of feelings. John Luther (Idris Elba) is now back to continue his work at London's Serious Crime Unit (SCU) and reunited with Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson), the psychopath murderer.

Alice is back after being presumed dead in the new season's premiere episode. In a clip from Entertainment Weekly, Wilson's characters will have an extended reunion with Luther in the upcoming new episode.

"It's like the odd couple," Wilson said about Alice and Luther. "That sort of dynamic really hasn't existed on screen before, certainly with a female character."

Wilson explained Luther and Alice's different chemistry is what makes Luther Season 5 interesting. Viewers often see police procedural dramas on TV, but it rarely involves a woman.

It is a rare seen to see a dynamic like what Luther and Alice have. She is someone who can match Luther and his intelligence. She can keep running rings around him and be his weak spot.

Now that Alice returns in Luther Season 5, it means she has a need for Luther. Wilson even said her character only appears when she needs help, but this time it is him that she needs.

Elba, on the other hand, said there would be no Luther if there is no Alice, via Coming Soon. He even described her as the bad guy that would never die and the unnatural element that feels natural.

Elba continued to say Luther and Alice are like cats and dogs, there is naturally something off between them. However, what fans see is a "sweet harmony" that is not sweet at all. Although they have each other's back, they also put each other in trouble in Luther Season 5.

Talking about his character, Elba revealed he loves playing the role of the talented-detective Luther. He said it is one of his career characters. He has been addicted to his lifestyle and expressive nature, thus he has to go on therapy before and after he plays the character.

So after working on Luther, Elba sees to it that he will hacve a nice break. And his way to reset is to make really good music or great DJ set. "I've been in such a dark place for a long time that it's nice to get out," he explained.

Luther Season 5 started airing on June 2 on BBC America. It only has four episodes, so the remaining three episodes will be out every succeeding Sunday at 8 p.m. The fifth season already ended in the UK in January.
