Game of Thrones already ended after eight seasons while its prequels are yet to be released. HBO programming president Casey Bloys earlier said it would take a while before the network releases the spinoff series. So, as some fans are left with nothing to do after the show's ending, here are the five other television shows that can replace GoT and give you the same viewing experience.

Black Mirror

Black Mirror has the same dark storytelling, intriguing plots, and unhappy endings like Game of Thrones. It is an anthology series that tells different stories about the future of modern technology.

Every episode features a new tale, although some have a connection with others. It usually deals with the concept of futuristic stories and technology gone wrong. You can watch Black Mirror on Netflix.

Westworld

Just like Game of Thrones, Westworld revolves around mysteries, drama, murder, gory deaths, and characters that can be either heroes or villains. According to MTV, it also boasts high production values being HBO's original series.

Westworld tells the story of a futuristic theme park that lets visitors explore Wild West's realistic recreation. The place is occupied by androids that serve park guests and characters in the multi-day narrative that take them to the western world. Although their memories are erased at the end of the day, some of them manage to retain their recollection that they become self-aware.

Dark

With a lot of conspiracies, supernatural elements, mysteries, murders, and picturesque scenery, Dark is like Game of Thrones. It features the tale of children disappearing from the fictional city of Winden in Germany.

The mystery surrounding Dark begins when its secrets started to come out. The story follows four families that have intertwined lives across 1953, 1986, and the present world - 2019.  Dark can be seen on Netflix.

Watchmen

HBO is about to release the television adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' classic 1985 graphic novel Watchmen. Helmed by Damon Lindelof, it will also feature great mysteries like Game of Thrones.

Watchmen will be set in the graphic novel's fictional world. However, IGN reported it would be like a sequel series. HBO has yet to announce when the new show will be out, but it is expected for release later this year.

Lord of the Rings

Game of Thrones Season 8's Battle at Winterfell is said to be inspired by Lord of the Rings' Battle at Helm's Deep. Amazon is about to unveil its massive and expensive take of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic novel series.

However, there are reports the network will focus on young Aragorn's story. There are also rumors it will tell the story of the past, during the Second Age. Amazon remains mum about its new series, so fans still have to wait for further announcements about it.
