US president Donald Trump's California home has officially been sold according to the Los Angeles Times. The Tudor-style home, located in Beverly Hills, in the Los Angeles Country, is one of The Trump Organization's last two properties in the area. It has been sold for about $13.6 million and off-loaded in an off-market sale.
The house was brought by corporate entity Hillcrest Asia Limited from the Trump Organization, which is currently run by Eric and Donald Trump Jr. for the president. Trump's company brought the property for $7 million in 2007 when it was still under the US president. The two-story home sits across the Beverly Hills Hotel. Near it is the Will Rogers, Memorial Park.
The estate sits on a corner lot and is located at the intersection of Rodeo Drive, Canon Drive, and Sunset Boulevard, which has been a hot spot for the US president. He bought properties in the neighborhood, including a Greek Revival-inspired mansion on a neighboring lot. The lot sold at a loss of $850,000 in 2009.
The company issued a statement about the sale. The Real Deal reported that Eric Trump, executive vice president at the Trump Organization, said that the property was "a beautiful home" which Trump's family had enjoyed. He added that the sale was necessary, given that the president's busy schedule and the family's schedules did not allow for them to hold on to the property anymore.
The property is a five-bedroom, 5,400 sq ft home. Donald Trump personally didn't stay at the property very often, but he reportedly "made an impression." This neighborhood was the only Westside precinct where the voters cast their ballots in favor of the current US president. The precinct registered a return of 54 percent, compared to rival Hilary Clinton's 42 percent.
That the property sat across the Beverly Hills Hotel had raised enough scandal. The location was reportedly where the president spent time with former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal, porn star Stormy Daniels, and where the president allegedly assaulted Summer Zervos. The president has since denied all of these allegations.
With the sale of the property, the Trump Organization is also left with the Trump National Golf Club, located in Rancho Palos Verdes and overlooking the ocean as well. The property was well-known for its controversial transaction, where the company dumped $300 million to restore the 300-acre property.
