Jo (Camilla Luddington) will be in a vulnerable state in Grey's Anatomy Season 16 after what happened in the previous season. Jo learned she was a product of rape, causing her to develop depression that made her decide to check herself in rehab.

Fans can't expect to see Jo doing fine when the new season starts. It may take a little while before everything comes back to normal after her treatment. Jo suffered severe trauma when she learned her birth story and experienced the complexity of being rejected by her mother.

In an interview with TV Guide, co-executive producer Elisabeth Finch revealed what would be the plan for Luddington's character come Grey's Anatomy Season 16. "She has not had an easy life and having this experience really fundamentally changed her," she said.

Finch revealed they have yet to talk about what to do with Luddington's character. They just started working in the writers' room, but she is now excited to honor and show what it is like for somebody to go through trauma, triumphantly come out fine from it, and live a happy life again.

According to CarterMatt, Grey's Anatomy Season 16 will never be like another Shonda Rhimes' heartbreaking story. It is a story about hope and darkness and knowing that Jo can survive.

Jo's traumatic experience may be taking its toll on her now, but she will eventually come out from the dark and find the light. She will do everything in her power to surpass what she is going through and embrace her life again.

There may also be a reunion in Grey's Anatomy Season 16 between Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo. Alex may help Jo through her journey by staying by her side, along with her other friends and family. It will not be an easy fight for Jo, but she will surely succeed.

Fans feel upset when Alex and Jo's marriage turns to be on the rocks with all the things she is going through. However, executive producer Kristina Vernoff assured they shouldn't lose hope for the couple as there would be reconciliation happening in the new season.

"They were pretty great together," she told TVLine. Jo feels like she is trapped in a harrowing "mental spiral." Thus, she needs professional help to come back to herself.

Everyone is hoping that Jo's treatment will help bring her back to herself and Alex. Grey's Anatomy Season 16 is expected to be out later this year on ABC.
