Could the Suits cast be making an appearance and crossing over to the spinoff series Pearson? There have been some wild speculations about familiar characters coming to the new legal drama as it debuts on USA Network this July.
Suits creator Aaron Korsh, however, tells TV Line the real deal. Fans of Suits should not expect to see Harvey Specter, Louis Litt, Donna or even Mike Ross in Pearson -- for now at least.
"It's a different tone, it's a different world, and I don't see it," Korsh said about Pearson. "It doesn't mean that couldn't change," he added, saying that if there's an episode arc for Suits characters in the new show and it would be well-received, then anything is possible.
Specter is the likeliest candidate to visit Jessica Pearson at her new firm in the Windy City, should a Suits and Pearson crossover does come into play. Actor Gabriel Macht, who plays the formidable lawyer, is willing to have a guest spot on Pearson.
But Macht is also quick to point out that there will some long discussions about how Harvey Specter would fit into Jessica Pearson's new world. Macht also said that they have to work out their schedules really well for this to crossover to happen.
Meanwhile, Pearson star Gina Torres told Entertainment Weekly that it actually feels liberating for her character to be away from Specter's orbit. Torres said that while she loved working with the Suits cast when she was there for almost six seasons, it's also quite challenging to be leading Pearson and showcasing the different aspects of her character as a boss, niece, and a girlfriend.
Like Korsh, Torres also said that Pearson has a different vibe than Suits. It's a little darker and more reflective of familiar issues in today's current events.
Pearson is set to premiere on July 17 via USA Network. The show also stars Bethany Joy Lenz, Morgan Spector, Chantal Riley, Eli Goree, and Isabel Arraiza.
Meanwhile, Suits will be airing its ninth and final season this fall with the anticipated return of Patrick J. Adams. His character, Mike Ross, will figure in the fifth episode of Suits season 9 and he will likely be in the series finale as well, according to Deadline.
Adams departed the series at the end of the seventh season along with his TV wife, Meghan Markle. The former actress, however, is not expected to appear in Suits season 9 because of her royal duties in England.
USA Network has not yet announced the release date of Suits season 9. However, the network released a teaser showing significant moments in the show's last eight seasons.
