The story of Prince Charles, Princess Diana, and Camilla Parker-Bowles have always been a favorite for biographers and tabloids because of its colorful and transparent events. Looking at all of the scenarios and conversations that happened between them, one cannot see their difference to ordinary couples who went through the same scandal.
And because these royals belong in a small group of lineage, they almost see each other in the same events as "blood relatives" do. The truth is Princess Diana, and Camilla Parker Bowles are descendants of Charles II, the King of England, Scotland and Ireland, whose reign spanned from May 29, 1660, until February 6, 1685.
The royal ladies are direct relatives of Charles Lennox, the 1st Duke of Richmond, who lived from 1672 until 1723 and an illegitimate son of Charles II. While Charles II did not have any legitimate children, the monarch acknowledged seven mistresses, which include Lennox's mother, Louise de Kérouaille, Duchess of Portsmouth.
It is safe to say that the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are cousins to the 7th degree and are supposed to be close to each other. In fact, they are, like Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cornwall now had been hanging out and used to like each other before the Princess of Wales married the future King of England.
The former couple would drop by at Camilla and Andrew Parker Bowles' home back then and would even help her take care of her children, Tom and Laura. But things changed when Lady Diana Parker saw a picture of Camilla Parker Bowles fell out of Prince Charles' diary while they were on their honeymoon at that time on board the Royal Yacht Britannia. Also at the same time as their honeymoon, Prince Charles received cufflinks from Camilla Parker Bowles which he famously wore all the time.
After knowing that "there are three of them" in the marriage, the famous line that Princess Diana gave away on her exploding 1995 BBC1 Panorama interview, the Princess of Wales opted to make a "bitter" sense of humor out of it by giving a nickname to her "once before" friend. Camilla Parker Bowles was nicknamed as "Rottweiler" because she "looks like a dog - and because once she has got her teeth into someone, she won't let go."
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cornwall already claimed her role as mistress and continued with the trash talk as she also gave a nickname for Princess Diana. Royal author Tom Bower claimed that the now-Duchess of Cornwall referred to Princess Diana as a "mad cow" after she did the Panorama interview. According to Camilla Parker, the princess had "little right to complain about her affair with Charles, since she had been 'working her way through the lifeguards.'"
