Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their firstborn Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor on May 6, 2019. This coming Saturday, he will be exactly two months old.
With that said, little Archie is set to be christened on July 6. Now, the question that everybody is talking about is who will the Duke and Duchess of Sussex choose to be the godparents of their son.
While there are no confirmed details regarding Archie’s christening as of yet, reports revealed that one of the most likely choices to be his godparent is Jessica Mulroney, who is a Canadian fashion stylist and Meghan’s best friend.
It was previously believed that Jessica was the first one to know about Meghan’s pregnancy, so it only fits that she is also the first to be on the godparents' list. Her three children were page boys and a flower girl at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last year.
The Duchess of Sussex and Jessica are so close that the former regularly flies out the latter to meet with her on her travels. While this makes a lot of sense, Jessica being a godparent in Archie’s christening has yet to be confirmed.
As for Prince Harry’s side, his best friend Charlie Van Straubenzee is leading the pack. The English businessman and investment executive have known the Duke of Sussex and Prince William since they were kids. He is even dubbed as Prince Harry’s wingman.
Charlie Van Straubenzee and Prince Harry have such a close bond that the former even made a speech during the latter and Meghan Markle’s wedding. But just like Jessica, Charlie has yet to be confirmed if he’s going to be a godparent in Archie’s christening.
“Jessica Mulroney and Charlie Van Straubenzee are seemingly nailed on to be Archie’s Godparents, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see some famous faces given the honor,” Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said.
According to reports, here are the other names that could be godparents in Archie’s christening: Misha Nonoo, Mark Dyer, Prince William and Kate Middleton, Tiggy Pettifer, George and Amal Clooney, Lindsay Roth, Nicholas Van Cutsem, Benita Litt, Serena Williams, Tom Inskip, Violet von Westenholz, Heather Dorak, Jake and Zoe Warren, Mark and Zara Tindall.
For now, these are all speculations. We’ll just have to wait and see who officially made it to the godparent's list in Archie’s christening on Saturday, July 6.
