The open-world western Red Dead Redemption 2 helmed by Rockstar Games released to the delight of many gamers and fans, but the title has so far only been available on Xbox One and PS4. We have been enjoying RDR 2 on these platforms, but will they ever make a PC version?

Rumors of a Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC have been floating around since last year, but there's very little solid info whether a PC release will happen or not. But we're fortunate to have keen eyes all around us, and now we have evidence, at least we'd like to believe so. A hint in Rockstar Game's Social Club source code has recently surfaced.

Twitter user JakoMako51 (via PCGamer) spotted a line in the Social Club's source code that mentions "RDR2_PC_Accomplishments." Now, this 'PC' could mean 'player character' or other things, but the context suggests this refers to achievements and the platform because it appears next to "RDR2_PS4_Trophies." We're doubting it could mean something else.

To be fair, it's just one line, but if you tie it up with previous PC rumors, it really hints to a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC port. If we take a look at Rockstar Games' history, it only took the studio less than a year to bring GTA 5 to PC. We're estimating RDR 2 on PC could be released roughly the same amount of time.

You can check the code yourself at the Social Club. If you're on a Chrome browser, simply hit F12 to open the dev tools, then choose 'Sources.'

Adding to this evidence is the previous mentions of PC in RDR's code in last year's data mine, which included references to PC graphic settings, including grass rendering and shadow quality. There are also lines that mentions 'PC,' such as 'CommandIsPcVersion(void)' and 'PARAM_companionAutoConnectIpPC.'

This is already a lot of evidence, so we're expecting an official announcement soon. Grand Theft Auto V released around a year after the PS4 and Xbox One versions launched, so we should expect RDR 2 to release on PC around the end of 2019.

We should probably mention that there was a listing of an RDR 2 for Nintendo Switch by an Australian retailer last year. That sure looks like fun, but it's pretty impossible for that to happen, as Reggie Fils-Aime himself has already explained why RDRD2 on Switch isn't happening anytime soon.

It's not wrong to expect Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC at all, but whether it really is happening remains to be soon. We sure could use a comment or two from Rockstar, though.
