Suits season 9 released a new trailer that teases the return of Mike Ross (played by Patrick J. Adams) after the character said goodbye in season 7. He's back in New York to apparently save his former colleagues, Harvey Specter (played by Gabriel Macht) and Louis Litt (played by Rick Hoffman), as their company lands in hot water yet again.
"Our firm is under attack and I can't defend it on my own," Louis is heard telling his colleagues in the latest teaser. Donna (played by Sarah Rafferty) asks how they could possibly stop what's happening to the company.
Just before the teaser ended, a glimpse of Mike appeared as he shakes hands with Harvey in the Suits season 9 teaser. He tells him that he will always have time for an old friend.
Adams confirmed in June that he will be appearing in the fifth episode of Suits season 9. According to Deadline, the actor might also be back for the series finale, which will likely run sometime in September.
He and TV partner, Meghan Markle (as Rachel Zane), were last seen in Suits season 7 getting happily married. While Adams continued to be part of the show behind the scenes as an episode director, the actress has completely given up on her TV career. Now that she's a real-life Duchess of Sussex, Markle will not be expected to appear in this final season.
Since the show premiered in 2011, the characters and relationships in Suits season 9 have evolved. In this final season, Harvey has come to realize that he cannot be without the most important person in his life: Donna.
But with his firm's reputation tarnished, he and his colleagues will have to work harder at rebuilding their company. Harvey and Louis have to rally up their colleagues --- Samantha Wheeler (played by Katherine Heigl), Alex Williams (played by Dulé Hill) and Katrina Bennett (played by Amanda Schull).
Meanwhile, Suits season 9 has also landed a special recurring guest star in Denis Cosby. As seen in the teaser, she's the newest threat to Harvey and Louis as Faye Richardson of the New York Bar Association.
Suits season 9 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 17, at 9:00 p.m. on USA Network. This final season will have a shorter run with 10 episodes than its usual 16.
