It's been nearly a month since Netflix dropped the latest season of Designated Survivor on the platform. Eager subscribers and followers of the show may be wondering about its renewal.
Is the series returning on Netflix? Will fans still be able to watch a new story unfold?
As of press time, the streaming platform has not yet confirmed a Designated Survivor season 4. Fans speculate that an official announcement about the show's fate will be coming this July.
According to What's on Netflix, viewers could expect a spring 2020 premiere if Netflix does confirm Designated Survivor season 4. But then again, changes can still happen when things are in the bubble.
But there are a few positive signs that Netflix won't easily drop Designated Survivor season 4 from its line-up next year. The show is apparently a hit overseas and it remains on the popular list in the U.K. streamer.
Meanwhile, the potential plot of Designated Survivor season 4 will likely revolve around moral crisis for President Tom Kirkman (played by Keifer Sutherland). In the third season, the president chose to keep a grave secret than to tell the public because it wouldn't benefit the greater good. In doing so, however, Kirkman slowly realized that he's becoming much like everyone with power in the White House. He's turning into a manipulative person much like every other politician.
It looks like Designated Survivor season 4 will continue to test Kirkman's moral compass and integrity. Amid this, the president could be the subject of impeachment for the attempted bio-attacks.
Lorraine (played by Julia White) will likely be sent to jail for illegal hacking along with Emily (played by Italia Ricci). Both these women had a hand in leaking damaging details during the campaign. Aaron (played by Adam Canto) could have problems with his relationship with Isabella (played by Elena Tovar) but Seth (played by Kal Penn) will likely have a happier storyline in Designated Survivor season 4.
According to Digital Spy, Leo (played by Tanner Buchanan) may likely be back for the fourth season. The character was not in Designated Survivor season 3 because he was off to college but there's no other reason why he won't be able to resurface in the show.
There's a clamor for this political series to be back for a fourth season on the streaming platform. The only thing missing now is a confirmation from Netflix.
