T.O.P just made history by not appearing in front of the media after his discharge from enlistment. The BIGBANG star chose to celebrate the completion of his mandatory military service with the people who he believes deserve his time and energy more, his beloved VIPs.
But this isn’t just an on the spot idea. T.O.P’s fans coordinated with Yongsan Crafts Museum to make this possible.
VIPs even gathered in front of Yongsan Crafts Museum alongside media, just so the press wouldn’t think that something fishy was going on if there were no fans to greet T.O.P on his release. What the media didn’t know was that the BIGBANG star was going to exit in a different door to go to a secret place where his fans were waiting for him.
The prank worked as the media had no clue that T.O.P was not going to face them. Instead, all they see was a green tape with a mic on it.

It is understandable why the fans wanted to keep T.O.P away from the media. With his marijuana scandal in 2017, it is expected that the press will bombard him with questions regarding the controversy.
T.O.P is very remorseful for his actions and wants nothing but to move on from it, so does the fans. But the K-pop industry is such a cruel world, and there will always be people, such as the media, who will consistently remind you that you made a mistake.
Fans don’t want this negativity for T.O.P; they want him to have a fresh start after his discharge. They love him, support him, and the most important part is that they have forgiven him.
The love is not just one-sided. K-pop idols have always been very appreciative to their fans as they know that these people have helped them tremendously in their journey. BIGBANG is no exception. T.O.P is no exception.
And with that said, the 31-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor took to Instagram to write a heartfelt message for the fans. This was his very first social media entry after completing his compulsory duty.
“Even though I am not proud of myself, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time and efforts to share this moment with me,” T.O.P wrote. “I will make sure to reflect on my self and repay the hurts and disappointments I caused to you. Again, thank you. Until I see you again.. love, T.O.P.”
