Song Joong Ki broke the hearts of many when he announced his plans to divorce from Song Hye Kyo last month. Avid followers of the Descendants of the Sun stars kept on wondering about what could have gone wrong in their marriage. Many thought that the primary reason behind the split could be kept in the dark, but Hye Kyo's talent agency claimed that "personality differences" took a toll in their relationship.
Up to this writing, Song Hye Kyo has not talked about the divorce yet - not even on social media. Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki are known to be very private persons. Hence, it comes a no surprise that neither of them gave a hint that their marriage is hitting rock bottom already.
On June 26, Attorney Park Jae Hyun revealed that Song Joong Ki had legally filed for divorce. Through his lawyer, the husband of Song Hye Kyo asked his followers to understand his decision and the situation. The Arthdal Chronicles actor even apologized to his fans for the very sad news.
"First, I'd like to apologize for delivering this unfortunate news to the many fans who love and care for me...I ask for your understanding in regards to the fact that it is difficult to discuss the details of my personal life," Song Joong Ki said in a statement. The Running Man guest star even revealed he hopes that he and Song Hye Kyo would end their marriage "amicably."
The talent agency of Song Hye Kyo, also, released an official statement after the divorce announcement was made. "The reason was because of their differences in personality. They could not overcome their differences and led to this decision," United Artist Agency said.
Aside from fans who aired out their disappointment about the divorce of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo on social media, other reports suggested that even people in Taebaek, Gangwon Province were devastated after learning the news. It is claimed that the local government unit might cancel the festival themed on the 2016 hit series titled Descendants of the Sun. The "Couple Festival" event, which was scheduled to take place on July 27 and 28, invites lovers and tourists, alike, to the theme park to try out and enjoy their entertainment offerings.
Meanwhile, Song Hye Kyo just made her first official public appearance a few days since her husband, Song Joong Ki, announced his plans for divorce. On July 6, the leading lady of Park Bo Gum in the Encounter series attend an event in Sanya to promote Sulwhasoo. Photographs of the 37-year-old South Korean actress made rounds online after Harper's Bazaar Hong Kong posted it on its official Instagram page.
Devoted supporters of the actress commended Hye Kyo for working very hard even amidst the challenges that she is facing currently. She is set to star in an upcoming film called Anna.
