Disney recently released the full-length trailer of Maleficent 2, or the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. The first movie was released in 2014 and Jolie will reprise her role as the infamous horned fairy, alongside Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora. The recently released trailer provides a glimpse of what to expect on the sequel, where it shows new faces such as Michelle Pfeiffer (Queen Ingrith) and Harris Dickinson (Prince Phillip).

The original release date of Maleficent 2 was scheduled on May 2020, but it was moved to an earlier date so the new release date of the sequel would be in October 2019. That's only a few months away from now, so fans are very excited to see the horned fairy on the big screen once again.

In the trailer of Maleficent 2, it was shown that Ingrith was the mother of Philip and she's very eager to be the mother-in-law of Aurora, the Princess who has been raised by Maleficent. The horned fairy disagrees with the idea and doesn't want the Princess to marry the Prince, and tells Aurora that "love does not always end well."

It can be recalled that the horned fairy distrust human, especially with what happened to her in the first movie. Since both of them aren't agreed on most things, Maleficent and Ingrith go on a showdown. The Queen wanted Aurora to claim her as her daughter so she could get the love of a "real mother."

But then, the Maleficent exploded in anger and opposed to the entire idea; the marriage of Aurora and Philip. The two go on a showdown, fighting for what they want. However, the shocking revelation within Maleficent 2 trailer is that she met another horned fairy Chiwetel Ejiofor and discovered she isn't the only one of her kind.

It seems like Maleficent 2 will focus on the titular character's past trauma that continues to affect her relationship with Aurora, and how it would further impact their relationship now that she met the other horned fairies. As per the movie description, the formidable queen will cause a rift between Maleficent and Aurora, but they must face together new allies and enemies to protect the magical land they share.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will hit theaters on October 18, 2019. Joachim Rønning directs the sequel, and other cast members include Robert Lindsay, Lesley Manville, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple, and Ed Skrein. The movie is also one of the several live-action projects of Disney, including the most recent ones: Aladdin and The Lion King.
