FX longest-running horror drama series, American Horror Story, is about to return on the network this year. With its official title, American Horror Story: 1984, it seemingly appears that the ninth season will be based on some of the most popular horror films from the ’80s.

While the fans of such shows like Friday the 13th and Nightmare On Elm Street are rejoicing for the series’ reported course, the whole fandom of American Horror Story is not entirely happy with the new changes of the season. As it happened, Evan Peters revealed earlier this year that he would be sitting out this season due to personal reasons.

Although the issue has been largely linked to his apparent break-up with one of the show’s stars, Emma Roberts, the rumors are not confirmed. According to reports, Evan is taking time for his mental health as the show’s demands are quite taking a toll already on his health. And with his surprising exit, the fans are pretty dismayed.

But things got even more disappointing when another American Horror Story main cast member is also revealed to leave the show. And as per Variety, the publication has learned that Sarah Paulson will no longer play a “significant role” when the new season arrives. Even so, there are speculations that she might still make a cameo in some of the episodes of the upcoming installment.

Little has been shared about her exit. But according to Vanity Fair, her decision to leave the series for good is largely due to her “very” occupied and busy schedule.

Outside FX’s AHS, Sarah Paulson is currently working on a new mini-series titled, Mrs. America, which will premiere soon on FX as well. Also, she is also working with AHS’ executive producer, Ryan Murphy, on a new and upcoming Netflix series titled, Ratched.

On the film industry, she is also set to star in a Lionsgate production titled, Run. Moreover, there are also other characters that she is about to play for the films, The Goldfinch and Abominable. And with this kind ties that Sarah Paulson have, it is only logical as to why she would leave AHS Season 9.

But these apparent exits, alongside the reported agreement between Ryan Murphy and Netflix, made some of the fans speculate that AHS is already ending soon. While this is a probable scenario, it has been confirmed already that AHS is commissioned for a new season after its 1984 installment.

American Horror Story Season 9 will premiere on September 18, on FX.
