When Pokémon Go released the Shiny form of the Entei, it quickly became the subject of several raids. An Entei is among the strongest Fire-type Pokémon in the game. A shiny one is even tougher, but players continue to hunt it for its rare loots.

As part of the celebration in completion of last week's Global Challenge, Pokémon Go recently announced that it is launching an Entei Raid Day from 4 PM to 7 PM local time. This mini-event gives players the chance to find Entei Raids at every gym. Should they find themselves lucky enough, they will encounter the shiny form of the Entei.

A Shiny Entei is just one of the many various versions of an ordinary Entei. An ordinary Entei is rare enough to hunt, and a shiny one is even harder to find. Aside from its ultra-rare status, what makes a Shiny Entei appealing to many players is the loot that they drop. Moreover, catching a Shiny Entei is also considered as a great feat in the game.

Hunting a Shiny Entei is already a great feat, capturing one is a monumental task. Since an Entei is classified as a Fire-type Pokémon, it is generally weak against Rock, Ground, and especially Water-type Pokémons.

Many in the Pokémon community agree that the best counter to an Entei is the Legendary Pokémon Go Kyogre, well-known for its tough build and variety of strong Water attacks. One of the most effective moves against an Entei is the Hydro Pump skill. This makes Feraligatr, Palkia, and Gyarados an interesting matchup for an Entei.

As for Rock-type Pokémons, their resistance to fire is what makes them a great matchup against an Entei. Fire attacks are generally useless against Rock-type Pokémons, and while Rock-type attacks are not really effective against Fire-type Pokémons, they can withstand heavy damage and can ultimately win a matchup. Among the favored Rock-type Pokémons that can stand against an Entei are Tyranitar, Rhyperior and Alolan Golem. For Ground-type Pokémons, Garchomp is also a favorite in the community.

With these Pokémons safety in the team, they can confidently defeat a Shiny Entei. While this is a viable option, an even easier way to defeat an Entei is to form raiding groups or party. An Entei is a powerful boss, so going into a raid with four other trainers will be a good strategy in taking it down. A group of five or more experienced trainers can easily take down a Shiny Entei.
