The elusive and secretive Project Rutabaga will take center stage in Young Justice season 3 episode 18. Set for streaming on the DC Universe platform on Tuesday, July 16, the story will focus on a looming international crisis.
According to Superman Homage Page, Young Justice season 3 episode 18 is titled "Early Warning." It will follow the events of the previous episode where a bidding war for an alien ship has been triggered.
In Young Justice season 3 episode 17, viewers saw how the group had been separated into two squads with Miss Martian, 13, Terra, Tigress, Halo, Forager and Superboy as part of the covert team. Beast Boy, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Blue Beetle, Geo-Force and Static, on the other hand, belong to the public team.
The DC superhero animated series, by the way, is ramping this season with the introduction of more characters to divide the groups into four different factions, per CBR. So, this is decidedly just the beginning.
Now, some of the superheroes are thrilled about these changes, but others can't struggle to accept the new dynamics. Beast Boy is eager to take over the headquarters with everyone getting their own space, but Forager is bent on staying in the jet.
Meanwhile, Beast Boy's group are sent to Brooklyn to help Aquaman foil an alien attack in Young Justice season 3 episode 17. Bystanders watched by the sidelines and took videos and photos of the team to post on social media.
Beast Boy felt that this was their chance to inspire the public. However, after their operation and countless of damages to the city, the mayor said that the Young Justice team committed vandalism. Thus, he demanded their arrest since Aquaman could not attest that the team is part of the Justice League. All of these were also caught on the crowds' camera phones.
Meanwhile, though the aliens have been apprehended, one of them activated a distress signal that awoken vessels underneath the Earth. This caused more alien ships to come and attack Brooklyn.
Blue Beetle led the charge this time and crashed the alien's ship at a deserted park. Beast Boys, on the other hand, talked to the crowd and declared that his team is different as they can't follow bureaucrats. Because of this, his team has been labeled as the Outsiders in Young Justice.
The episode finished off with Aquaman telling the Justice League that the sleeper vessels have been awakened. The bidding war will begin, and the social media buzz has helped generated interest.
