It's going to be the final run for Supernatural season 15, and as the production prepares for filming, fans of the long-running series on The CW has to also prepare for the inevitable. One or more of the major characters could die in the finale.

Supernatural season 15 showrunner Andrew Dabb hinted that the upcoming installment would mark the end of the world as the end of its story. In the featurette "The Winchester Mythology: The Choices We Make," which was released after the season 14 finale, Dabb said that the writers have to figure out where Sam (played by Jared Padalecki) and Dean (played by Jensen Ackles) will fit in this final season's storyline.

As viewers saw in the Supernatural season 14 finale, the sinister plan of Chuck/God (played by Rob Benedict) didn't go as he'd hoped. Sam tried to put an end to him, but Chuck retaliated and opened Hell. His action brought back many of the monsters that the Winchester brothers have banished before.

"The world has just opened up, essentially, and all of those things that we have spent so many years fighting, they're going to come knocking now," Ackles said, per Entertainment Weekly. This implied that there would be no escape for the brothers as the supernaturals they have fought and caught before will be coming after them again.

But in an interview with TV Guide, Collins said that he believes death would be the only natural and fitting end for their characters in Supernatural season 15. He is expecting that the death of a major character or more will give the series its finality.

Collins said that the Winchesters are known as hunters and if they cannot hunt anymore after this season, then they might as well be dead. However, Padalecki does not want a "doom and gloom" end for the brothers in Supernatural season 15. He wants the show to depict the Winchesters as fighters to the very end; thus, Sam and Dean will have to be together to support each other until the end.

Meanwhile, Ackles has confirmed that Supernatural season 15 has started with pre-production. The actor is set to direct a few episodes in this final season.  The CW has also announced that Supernatural season 15 will premiere on Thursday, October 10, at its usual schedule at 8:00 p.m. per Deadline.
