Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo broke the hearts of their fans when they both confirmed that "personality differences" have taken a toll on their relationship. The Descendants of the Sun actor announced that he took legal steps for his separation from his wife on June 26. However, the Full House actress was only informed about it a day after the shocking divorce announcement.
"I have begun the process of filing for divorce from Song Hye Kyo. Rather than denouncing one another and arguing over who is to blame, I hope that the divorce process can be wrapped up amicably," Song Joong Ki said in a statement relayed by his lawyer, Park Jae Hyun. "I ask for your understanding in regards to the fact that it is difficult to discuss the details of my personal life, and I will recover from my current wounds and do my utmost as an actor to repay you through great productions in the future," the Arthdal Chronicles lead actor went on.
Song Hye Kyo, also, released an official statement regarding Song Joong Ki's decision to end their marriage. UAA revealed that the Song-Song couple was not able to "overcome their differences" and decided to split instead. The Encounter actress' agency, also, discouraged fans from spreading rumors and speculations about the Joong Ki and Hye Kyo divorce.
While avid followers of Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo wait for the latest updates of the divorce proceedings, recent reports claimed that the 37-year-old actress had moved out of their honeymoon home already following the split announcement. It is claimed that Hye Kyo is, now, living in a new luxury villa in the U.N. Village though she is, currently, working abroad.
Joong Ki, for his part, is said to be living along with his family. The representatives of both parties have not released any comments about the impending divorce. There are reports saying that the Song Joong Ki and Song Hye Kyo divorce would be finalized in August.
