The end is here for Jane Villanueva (played by Gina Rodriguez). However, before viewers learn whether it's a happy or sad ending, the character will still have to deal with some roadblocks on Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17.
With two episodes left to air, as well as a special reflective episode with the cast, the penultimate installment is expected to be another roller coaster ride. Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17 will open with a fancy party, per the teaser, but it doesn't look like Jane will be in a festive mood.
According to the synopsis of Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17, unexpected problems will pop up everywhere. For Jane, it happened in the previous episode as Sin Rostro/Rose (played by Bridget Regan) has resurfaced. What will she be up to this time, and who will she come after first?
The trauma that Sin Rostro has brought to Jane in the last five years cannot be easily forgotten. Viewers will recall that she orchestrated to kidnap Jane's baby, Mateo, as well as "kill" Michael (played by Brett Dier) in the earlier seasons.
On top of Sin Rostro coming back, Jane will also encounter hitches with the publishing of her latest book in Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17. Will her new creation still have a chance of hitting the store shelves?
Meanwhile, it's not just Jane who will encounter roadblocks in the upcoming episode. Her dad, Rogelio (played by Jaime Camil) will also need to deal with some hitches to his plans in Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17.
Following the pick-up of his new show This Is Mars, Rogelio learns that her co-star River (played by Brooke Shields) would like to uproot her life in New York to be closer to her daughter and family. This means that their new show might not take off if one of them won't be there. Will Rogelio decide to recast a co-star? Will he be willing to move to New York to keep working with River?
However, amid all these problems, the working relationship between Rafael (played by Justin Baldoni) and Petra (played by Yael Groblas) will improve. Because of how things are moving along at their hotel, Petra will make a generous but unexpected offer to the father of her kids in the upcoming episode.
Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 17 is the 98th episode of the series. It will be followed by the airing of the cast special and the series finale, the 100th episode, next Wednesday, July 31.
