Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Martin Kove, Xolo Maridueña, and the rest of the staff and crew graced the recent 2019 San Diego Comic-Con to talk about Cobra Kai Season 3. The panel revealed a lot is about to happen in the new installment as the bad blood between Daniel (Macchio) and Johnny (Zabka) continues.
The previous season sets the stage for a great dojo vs. dojo war in the next season. As their students now join the fight, Daniel and Johnny will question their abilities as these kids' mentor.
There will be self-reflection in Cobra Kai Season 3 as Daniel is about to dig in the origin of each dojo, per IndieWire. Hence, executive producer Josh Heald revealed LaRusso is about to return to Okinawa, Japan, to go on a journey to know more about Miyagi-Do.
In the movie The Karate Kid II, Daniel went to Mr. Miyagi's (the late Pat Morita) hometown, where he had a short romance with Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita). Although the panel didn't spill many details about the new season, Kove revealed Cobra Kai Season 3 would also be about redemption. He said Kreese's love for Johnny, who he called as the "son he never had," was obscured by the desire for Cobra Kai.
"Coming up soon, I think there's a lot of redemption," Kove said, via Entertainment Tonight Canada. "I think there should be. But if there isn't, I think that'll be a really good dance."
Kreese wanted to redeem himself after ousting Johnny as the Cobra Kai dojo's head. In the previous season, his "no mercy" approached enticed a lot of students following Miguel's (Maridueña) fate. However, the 18-year-old actor revealed that even though his character suffered a broken neck and back, his loyalty is still with Johnny.
Johnny's real son, Robby (Tanner Buchanan), on the other hand, also needs his father's help in Cobra Kai Season 3 after what happened to Miguel. Honestly, Zabka revealed he didn't know what would happen if Johnny had to choose between the two, although he wanted to take care of them both.
Cobrai Kai is currently airing on YouTube's paid subscription service, YouTube Premium. But, its first two seasons will be soon available on the video-sharing website for free.
Fans can start watching all episodes of Season 1 free of charge starting on Aug. 29. Alternatively, Season 2 episodes will be out, one episode a week, beginning on Sept. 11. Although the company is yet to announce when Cobra Kai Season 3 will be out, it is expected to be released in 2020.
