HBO president of programming Casey Bloys finally addressed the issues surrounding Game of Thrones Season 8. From the petition to complaints, the series finale has faced a lot of criticisms from media and fans alike. But, is the media to blame about the hate and will the network hear the cry for a remake?

Bloys explained at the recent Television Critics Association's press tour in Beverly Hills, California, that there are "very few downsides" to having a hugely popular show like Game of Thrones. "One I can think of, when you try to end it, many people have opinions on how to end it," he said, per uInterview.

The petition indeed showed how passionate and enthusiastic fans are on the series. However, it is something that HBO would never seriously consider. Bloys even added he didn't think any network would do it.

With a lot of complaints, was HBO involved in doing Game of Thrones Season8? Bloys explained when a series had reached its six, seven, or eight seasons, it is likely that it is on its successful run. Hence, there should be a rhythm between the network and the showrunners.

There will be a "minimal back-and-forth here and there." The two should have a good handle on what the show is and what its end is going to look like.

Earlier, Conleth Hill, who played Varys, blamed the media for the intense hate on Game of Thrones Season 8. However, Bloys cleared the backlash was never led by a media hate campaign. "I do not think the media is responsible for this," he told TVLine.

Bloys believed the backlash was inevitable, and it was both good and bad news about a top-rated series. When a network ends a much-loved show, people will always have a specific idea on how it should conclude.

However, for them, what truly matters is that the creators managed to tell a story that they wanted to say. Although it has been a couple of months since Game of Thrones Season 8 ended, Bloys didn't expect to see the debate to die down anytime soon.

He even compared it to religion and politics, where no one is going to convince anybody of their opinion. "I think the entire show - and specifically the final season - will be debated for years to come," Bloys said.

Fans' questions about Game of Thrones Season 8 were left answered after showrunners David Benioff, and D.B. Weiss were no show at the recent 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. Bloys cleared he was not involved in the cancellation of their appearance and had no idea why they pulled out.
