John Noble returns as Morland Holmes in Elementary season 7 episode 11, which aired on August 1. The episode, titled "Unfriended," sees Sherlock's campaign against Odin's God complex and it cost him a loved one, his father, Morland.
Many viewers were happy when Noble returns as Morland in Elementary season 7 episode 11 as the character brings a little more excitement in Sherlock's life. It would be nice seeing Sherlock getting a happy ending that he deserves and no more pain, yet that's didn't happen in the recently aired episode as his father has been killed off.
Sherlock and Morland had a rocky relationship, but the latter pointed out to his son when they last spoke that he's always there for him. Morland introduced Sherlock to Joan, and he also gave him a new home to have a fresh start in New York. Their relationship, however, worked best when they're living separately - but they do love each other dearly.
Following the death of Mycroft in season 6, Morland and Sherlock were the only relatives that each other had. So, the death of his father made it hard for Sherlock since he's the last of his line now. He promised that he'd redouble his efforts the end Odin and his murder machine. As a Big Bad, Odin has influence, money, and he believes he could change the world.
When Sherlock saw Bell at the end of the episode, he already knew that something was wrong and it was then revealed that Morland was dead. Noble's character says goodbye in the series, and even though he's not a series regular for a long time, the actor did a good job in portraying his character.
Noble also brought different style and substance to the character, and he plays some sort of moral ambiguity that Morland needs to have. The character will surely be missed, but the whole show will be missed as well, especially since there were only two remaining episodes now.
But aside from Morland's death in Elementary season 7 episode 11, Sherlock also needs to accomplish certain missions. Some of which include going to Gregson and he needs to admit he kept a lot of information from him, particularly about his investigation into Odin. The two also needs to use much discretion to make sure nothing gets exposed or hacked, and Sherlock needs to ensure that everyone is safe.
