USA Network has canceled Colony Season 4, but fans are now doing their best to have it picked up by another network or streaming platforms, like Netflix or Amazon Prime. Although the real reason behind the cancellation remains under wraps, it may have something to do with its poor ratings.

The show had three successful seasons. It even had 2.2 million viewers and became the number one scripted cable series on Thursday nights. However, things changed in Season 3, per Tech Junkie.

Colony Season 3's ratings declined, getting only 1.3 million viewers, which is one of the lowest average viewerships for dramatic programs on cable. Fans and critics alike believed it has something to do with the production's move to Vancouver BC after it failed to win a California tax credit to shoot in Los Angeles.

The show's storyline might also get out of focus after its co-creator, and executive producer Carlton Cuse left to focus on his new series, Jack Ryan, on Amazon. So in July 2018, USA Network announced there would be no Colony Season 4.

Bustle noted USA Network itself didn't give more reasons as to why Colony Season 4 was dropped. Fans were not happy about the news. Hence, they started to rally on Twitter and used #RenewColony in hopes to save the series.

Fans were hoping that Netflix would pick up the show and save it from cancellation. It might add up to its growing list of sci-fi series, like Stranger Things, Dark, and Lost in Space.

One fan even suggested that the show should get a proper sendoff by having a movie, just like Sense8, to give an appropriate conclusion to its storyline. So far, the show's social media page and cast members remain mum about Colony Season 4 cancellation.

Fans never got a definite answer as to why the show had come to an end, although its ratings spoke for itself. Showrunner and executive producer Ryan Condal only said the reasons were complicated, "mostly dumb, and would provide little comfort," but promised they would return with "new things from new places."

Does it mean Colony Season 4 will return in a new network or streaming platform? Fans have launched a petition to convince USA Network to continue the show. It is also possible Netflix, Amazon Prime, or other streaming services will continue the show and make new episodes.

As the show has a solid fan base, it may be picked up by another network. However, the downside is Colony Season 4 is quite expensive to produce, given that it uses costly special effects and its location shootings also add up to the budget. Also, despite strong critical support, it still has a small audience.
